Sometimes I need to shake my feelings a bit
Before they can work
They stutter,
Like and old jalopy
Refusing, or too tired to run
I need to kick the box
Give it a Fonzie
Before my emotions respond
And when I do,
They perk up for a quick second
Like they were sleeping on the job,
They leap out to catch up
I feel a wave rush through my chest
All other obsessions stop
I f-e-e-l
I take a breath
And everything is better
When I remember
